The season of Advent marks the beginning of the new liturgical year. While our culture is stringing lights, singing carols, and entering into consumerism, the Church does just the opposite. The themes of waiting, longing, and hoping characterizes this beautiful time of year. During the four weeks prior to Christmas,  we are invited to enter into a quiet time of pondering the three comings of Christ: at Bethlehem (the past), into our lives (the present) and at the end of time (the future).  We wait in “joyful hope” to celebrate the Incarnation, “God With Us,” at Christmas.
