I can’t think of a better book to teach us about the transformative power of sharing God’s blind love than Wonder by R.J. Palacio.  In this book, 10 year old August, born with extreme facial deformities and always home schooled, faces the immense challenge of attending a local middle school. As I read the book, I thought about the precious value of August’s life.  Although he had suffered countless surgeries and stares throughout his life, he taught people how to see beyond his face and love him.  In a world so overly-obsessed with physical beauty, I am uplifted by a story of the spiritual beauty that radiates when we share God’s love with those most rejected by society.  I try to keep the following quote from the book with me daily, “if [we] act just a little kinder than is necessary, someone else, somewhere, someday, may recognize in [us], in every single one of [us], the face of God.”  Further, I pray that I can see everyone I encounter as a true “wonder of God’s own creation.”
