“For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Luke 11:10

For the past few years, I have been taking photos of doors. Having quite a collection now, I have wondered when I will have enough and stop.  “Not yet,” is always the answer, for I am clearly not finished pondering the significance, beyond sheer beauty, of what these images hold. One thing I know for sure, the door is one of the most powerful symbols of the divine invitation. No force involved, God allows us the utlimate freedom to choose a sacred path or not.  The door is always open and we are always free to step over the threshold of mystery any time and anywhere. Therein lies the mystery of conversion, of surrender, of detachment and discernment. Why some of us are lured beyond the threshold and some of us remain on the other side of the door tells the story of our lived experience of the freedom that God has so generously bestowed.
