Nothing is more freeing than believing—truly committing yourself to an idea or a person. It is difficult for people to believe in their fellow man or woman. Perhaps it is because we get hurt so regularly by those around us, but when we can truly say that we have faith in someone—a spouse, friend, or parent—it is incredibly liberating to commit to them. In this way, the woman in the Gospel is saved. She has so much faith in Jesus that she only needs to touch His cloak to receive His heeling. This is the type of healthy, trusting relationship we are called to have in our lives. These relationships will not heal us from illness, but they can heal a heart and soul in need. How has your faith in someone else saved you?
