Recently, my daughter gifted me with the beautiful card attached to this post. It is doubly meaningful because it is no ordinary card. Each color, each little piece of the mosaic she created actually represents a prayer she said during the drawing session. I learned this technique, known as “praying in color,” from author Sybil McBride during a workshop some years ago and have since shared it to her and many others. Now my daughter is a Middle School religion teacher who is passing along the joy of praying in this unique way to her students. The ripple effect goes on, not only to them, but to all who are touched by the power of this simple prayer. During these days of violence and pain, it is good to know that the luminescence of prayer remains a constant source of joy.
