My wellspring of grace and therapeutic renewal takes place on the beach. I spend a fair amount of time there, walking, praying, contemplating and writing. I made that life-style choice as a New Year’s resolution many years ago when I started to feel like a crazed workaholic.  Everyone needs a sanctuary, a physical space, created by God or intentionally arranged, as a place of retreat from the pressures of life. Then we need to go there. Often. Breaking from the utilitarian mindset that surrounds our culture (we have to be productive ALL the time), is no easy task, I know. Yet, isn’t that the advice we always give others when we observe their stress and discontent?
