“If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.” John 14:14

There are so many appellations for Our Lady but “Mystical Rose” is by far my favorite because it captures the  combination of beauty and mystery that Mary represents to so many of us.  I first learned this title a long time ago when we would recite the Litany of Loreto for May Crowning each year. As we chanted “pray for us,” after each title, we believed that Mary, beloved Mother of Jesus, would never fail to intercede for us. We knew that we could ask Jesus directly of course, but going through His Mother was a guarantee that our pleas for healing and wholeness would never go unanswered. Whenever I contemplate or say the name of the Mystical Rose today, I always feel something profound shift inside me. I know by experience that this connection to Mary is an unfolding to the Light, petal by petal, a glimpse of the deep inner life that we are all called to embrace.  And when I am quiet and still,  I know that this mystical pathway is as natural as a dew-kissed rose on any ordinary day.
