He said to him, “Follow me.” — Luke 5:27

The dramatic scene of the call of the apostles in the gospel could be a scene right out of a movie. They were just working, mending nets, when Jesus casually walks by and reads their minds and hearts. His simple beckon “follow me,” must have been powerful because they immediately dropped their nets and did it. No committee meetings, no conferring. They just followed after Him. Together.

Soul Walk
Take a step into the desert of this
Sandy beach place close to the heart
The music of silence in between
The waves crashing on the shores of our lives
Take my hand so worn and lined
And tired from holding the tension
Walk with me across the stones
So smooth and warm
Walk through the pain of loving
Across time’s infinite horizon
Be my soul mate just for today
Free me from my blindness
Give me living water
Untie the bindings of my death shroud
Walk with me so I do not feel alone
