“See! Your true character is finally showing itself!” Tobit 2:14

My feathered friends begin their matins
At the first appearance of light
And  continue on until the hidden sun
Is well overhead and the psalms of morning
Fade into the background of classical music
And jets zooming into Pendleton
June’s gray mornings of misty familiarity
Have returned to the coast and we grumble
Our yearly impatience over the gloom
That makes us both shiver and sweat
We live in paradise and yet we long
For utopia, insatiable for pleasure
Our true character showingyet knowing
the Light still shinesand forgives
the restlessness of the human heart
