When they climbed out on shore, they saw a charcoal fire with fish on it and bread. John 21:12

I was walking on the beach this week. The dazzling sun was setting over the water and I heard the happy sounds of  families and friends as they gathered around charcoal fires, preparing to cook and eat together during Spring break. I instantly felt uplifted in a resurrection kind of way. What could be more fun than a barbecue on the beach? All pretenses removed, sitting down to a meal outside,  everyone can relax and just be real.  How poignant that Jesus knew that too when he cooked and fed his friends right where they were most comfortable so that they would know it was really him. In this familiar act, with fish and bread, all doubts were erased. Even though resurrection drastically changes appearnaces, how great that we can experience the glorious presence of Christ, right in our midst, in these soaring yet simple times on the shores of life.
