Is my small life, like Bethlehem, a beacon of Christ’s light?
The prophecy that a Messiah would come from such a humble place communicates the essence of the Christian message. Translated, Bethlehem means “house of bread,” a foreshadowing of the simple food that would become Christ’s own body, nourishing the spiritual life of the world. If we are what we eat, then our small but significant lives eventually should shine like the star of Bethlehem for all to share.
