“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. . . ” Luke 1:46
What is your soul proclaiming today?
Today’s reading is taken from the beautiful prayer, “The Magnificat” that Mary proclaimed in response to the greeting of her cousin, Elizabeth. She was actually echoing the words from the Hebrew Scriptures, a sign that the prophecy of the Messiah had been fulfilled. The prayer is perfect worship – full of praise, gratitude, and fervant belief in justice. In her proclamation, Mary’s solidarity with the poor and marginalized galvanizes our momentum and deep-seated longing. Our stories inter-twine once again.
