Lord, make us turn to you.  Psalm 80

Why do we resist God’s forgiveness when that is what we want the most?

The psalms in the Hebrew Scriptures are full of pleading and longing. Even though they were written many years ago, the sentiments echo how I  often feel as I face the challenges of life. While I want to do what it right and good, it is sometimes hard to know what God’s wants. My prayer, then, is like the psalmist – “Just make me!” Yet what I love most about God is that I am free to fall and make mistakes, still held in the arms of a forgiving God who never forces me.
