“Why were you looking for me?  Luke 2:50

The question of why we seek or what we are seeking appears often in Scripture. In today’s gospel reading on the feast day of St. Joseph, Jesus asks his parents this question at a poignant moment. He was only twelve and had somehow separated from their traveling caravan.  Frantic with worry, they eventually found him in the temple discussing theology with the rabbis.  For the first time, they came face-to-face with his true identity as well as their own existential callings as seekers of Truth.
