“. . it is good that we are here;”  Matthew 9:32

On this Second Sunday of Lent, Jesus is transfigured before his three close friends – Peter, James and John. The gospel says that they saw him in dazzling white clothes accompanied by Moses and Elijah, representing the Law and the Prophets. Overcome with amazement, they fell down in adoration.  Such numinous encounters with the Holy One produce that effect, reducing us to silence and simplicity. Sometimes all we can say (or think) is summarized in these few words: “it is good that we are here.”  Very good.
