“. . .But I say to you, love your enemies,
and pray for those who persecute you. . .”  Matthew 5:44

The command of Jesus to love our enemies is perhaps one of the hardest concepts that we human beings struggle to understand and incorporate into our lives. Oceans of ink has been spilled on this passage by some of the most astute theologians among us and we still do not have certainty. Clearly, what Jesus meant by the two words “love” and enemies” need to be re-examined frequently. Then, the most difficult part of all, the words must be experienced before any understanding can take place.
